NOVEMBER: The Abundance Of Our Divinity

“Brisk, lively, merry and bright, allegro.  Same tempo morning and night, allegro.  Don’t stop whatever you do.  Do something different and new.  Keep up the hullabaloo, allegro, allegro, allegro!”

Hello dear ones,

Here we are coming to the end of all the election turmoil and the beginning of the holiday season.  Could there be a greater contrast?  From division and controversy—to a time-honored tradition of gathering together to give thanks, and to pray for peace on earth.

This year especially, in confusion and concern about the future    . . . counting our blessings may not have been our first instinct.  Caught up in unprecedented shifts and changes, perhaps we are hoping for redemption in the prospect of a vaccine to end the pandemic, or the right people in government to make our lives more abundant?

Caroline Myss, best-selling spiritual author and counselor, has said, “We require faith and trust for our life to make sense to us.”  She has listened to so many people describe why they are depressed or unhappy in life. . . but no one has ever told her that their depression is rooted in a crisis of faith.  She observes that they suffer from an inability to believe in themselves—much less believe in the mystical truth that their lives are divinely intended acts of creation.

“The characteristics of a spiritual crisis are nearly identical to that of clinical depression—except that the cause is a crisis of the soul,” she said.

The absence of faith in ourself is like being a ship without a rudder, aimlessly tossing about on the ocean. We can buy lots of things, junk and stuff, and go lots of places, but the truth is that nothing we can buy and nowhere we go can fill the empty, bottomless hole that comes from not trusting ourself. To know the peace of God becomes our compass.

So, what is our mystical truth? A Course in Miracles tells us, “

“Salvation requires the acceptance of but one thought; you are as God created you, not what you made of yourself.  Know that, light and joy and peace abide in me.  My sinlessness is guaranteed by God.  Here is salvation accomplished.  Here is sanity restored.”

Awakening to our divinity can be revealed through whatever way our inner voice speaks to us.  In the silence, Spirit can open our heart to see the holiness within, and within others that lights up the world. Don’t be afraid of silence. As I’ve mentioned before, Spirit speaks only in the silence. Someone once said that the greatest parts of music are those little silences within the notes.

The power of the divine is within us, and life is a prayer.  The true meaning of prayer is a request to the divine for help in how to see.

When we are a passenger on a ship, our view from inside our room is from a small portal window.  But, the Spirit of God is the Captain, and He can see the big picture.  The Captain has the compass, Spirit knows when, how, and where to steer the vessel.

When we pray, we ask the Divine to show us how to see, what to say and what to do. We ask God to reveal the right path for us . . . and then listen.  What arises in us may be heard as patience, or forgiveness, or the rushing warmth of our own goodness.  This revelation, whatever it may be, is received through our own divinity, our true Self.

We will never feel quite at peace until we are communicating with our true Self. “The peace of God is shining in me now.” ACIM

Marianne Williamson comments on prayer . . .

Prayer is the medium of miracles

Prayer is the way to get back to my true self in any moment I am lost in the illusion of separation.

Prayer is doing my best thinking.

Marianne also said . . . some people say their prayer is to let God be their co-pilot.  I say—hell—let Him fly the plane! 😊

So . . . until next time

When you find yourself staring into the headlights of fear—as I often

do—stop and tell yourself, I am insane right now 😊 then laugh, and remember . . . THANK GOD I’M CRAZY!
