A GIFT IN DISGUISE? A GREATER TRUTH?

Hello dear ones,
How are you? Are you feeling, as many do, that we are at a crossroads . . . something is ending, and something unknown is about to begin? Does that make you fearful?
I’m reminded of a desperate red-faced, middle-aged man, “with greasy hair and dirty cowboy boots,” whom I witnessed being wrestled to his knees while orderlies wrapped him in a straightjacket as he cried out, “The world’s a comin’ to an’ end! Run! Save yerselves!” (TGIC) He was overcome by an altered state of fear, but that was not who he really was.
Because everything in this illusory world has an end, there has historically always been a preoccupation with “The End of The World:” Nostradamus, 16th century visionary, the end of the Mayan calendar— the Bible and Armageddon, all prophesied the end of the world.
Growing up, as I did, in a strict fundamentalist upbringing I was warned about the end of days, and the promise of one, who would lead us out of our darkness; One Bible reference describes the time of Armageddon:
“People will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.” 2 Timothy
As I pondered this, a fleeting, and radical thought occurred to me. What ifthe gift that leads us out of the darkness comes from one, or ones who have chosen to embody as life-sized dramatizations of the egoic self—inunprecedented magnification; flood lighting the hidden underbelly of ourcollective shadow self, and exposing the ego’s trap—face-to-face. Darkness can only be healed when it is brought into the light!
Could these times we are experiencing . . . the likes of extreme division, gross disregard for others—even their lives, flagrant injustices, denial of others rights, open hate and mockery . . . be no accident, but a pinnacle in time in which the stage is set? The curtains are opening to see the ego’s false promises as never before—providing the opportunity for us to turn away from the ego’s fearful illusion, and to—choose again. And in doing so, gifting us with this moment to remember who we really are.
Apocalypse is a reference to “the end.” As a child, when I went to the movies, they first showed clips of the news, a cartoon, and then the main feature movie. When it was all over words flashed on the screen in bold print, “THE END.” Then we got up, walked out of the movie, and went on with life. The end of something implies the beginning of something else.
Deep down we yearn for something else. The Bible tells of the discipleswho went up to Jesus and asked, “When will the kingdom come?” And Jesus answered, “It will not come by watching for it. It will not be said behold here or behold there. Rather the kingdom of the Father is spread out upon the earth, and people do not see it.” They do not see it—notbecause it’s not there, but because it’s out of our awareness.
Likewise, A Course in Miracles tells us that heaven is not a place or a condition. Heaven is the awareness of oneness; the awareness of perfect oneness and the knowledge that there is nothing else. Nothing else.
Oneness is our way. Forgiveness of this world is the means to finding our way. Love is our guide. Our gift is the Miracle—which is a shift in our perception. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit—we can do anything. “There is a light in you which cannot die; whose presence is so holy that the world is sanctified because of you . . . I walk with God in perfect holiness. I light the world, I light my mind and all the minds which God created one with me.” ACIM L.156
Our gift to the world is to hold the redemptive vision of love, and to love away the ego’s specialness and separateness.
Practically speaking, this is especially challenging when Oneness, in a global sense, is not an understood or felt concept by a majority of the world’s population. When we embrace our vision of loving oneness, our real work begins. We have no choice but to live our lives this way.
*A first step might be to remember the sacred in ourselves, in others, and in nature as we seek to nurture all life. It’s an all-day-thing—our new lens on life.
*Next, we can take the time to commune with the divine within, do our inner work, then pay attention to what we are called to do.
*If we come to see the divine in our daily living, we’ll create deep and lasting spiritual health and well-being that extends far beyond our own lives.
*Invite people to see our connection; that other causes—climate change, income inequality, human rights and justice—all of these, fall under the umbrella of the oneness of all of life.
A Course in Miracles is practical. Its workbook teaches us that we learn by experience. Like the Chinese saying, “To know, and not yet do, is to not yetknow.” It is not enough to understand what oneness is. We must embody it if it is to have real and lasting meaning.
With love as our vision, we can’t lose😊 As Ziggy Marley, son of Bob Marley recently said, “Love will win in the end. If love isn’t winning, it’s not the end!”
